(25 January, 2019 - Abu Dhabi, UAE) The fifth round of the UAE Rotax Max Challenge (RMC) takes place at the seven-star Yas Marina Circuit.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix venue hosted the final race of the Formula 1 World Championship and the Gulf 12 Hours late last year to crown the season.
Fast forward a month and the circuit is this weekend hosting the much anticipated RMC round where the country's top karters compete in the country's longest-standing and most prestigious grassroots series.
Championship Director Guy Sheffield said of the race weekend, "This is the crown jewel of our calendar. Racing on a Grand Prix circuit is unique and a privilege for our drivers. It also shows the massive commitment from Yas Marina Circuit management to karting in the UAE, as the only track known to shut down operations to allow the RMC race weekend to take place.
"And for drivers, the thrill is to be competing on the same piece of tarmac on which greats such as Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso have raced. Needless to say, this is always one of the most memorable races of our season," added Sheffield.
