UAE RMC ROUND 4 RACE PREVIEW

Round 4 of the UAE Rotax MAX Challenge (RMC) will take place on Friday 14th November 2014 at Al Ain Raceway International Kart Circuit while more action will follow on Saturday 15th November as the Round 1 Finals will be held following the abandonment of the October meeting due to abhorrent weather.
Drivers in six national championship race categories will showcase their skills as they compete in a series of races throughout the day at the UAE’s premier karting facility.  They will be ably supported by 5-8 year old ‘Bambino’ drivers who will themselves be battling it out on the 1.4km Grand Finals Chicane circuit configuration – a fast, flowing layout with some exciting twists thrown in.
In the 32hp DD2 category, the man to beat is British ace, Sean Babington, who has had a clean sweep of wins so far this season.  Aiming to upset the form book are 2 current reigning Champions – Piers Pakenham-Walsh (UAE DD2 Champion) and Sanad Al Rawahi (Oman DD2 Champion) – as well as 2013 UAE Champion, Oliver George.  With a real depth of talent on display in this most powerful category, the afternoon Final is a mouth-watering prospect.

The hotly-contested 28hp MAX class for drivers 15yrs and above has seen a different winner each time out this season and recent victors, Patrick Hannah and Tom Bale, will inevitably come under pressure once again from fellow lead contenders Abdulla Al Rawahi (reigning UAE MAX Champion) and Pasqual Pook (reigning UAE Junior MAX Champion) among others.

Taymour Kermanshahchi and Fraser Rose shared the spoils at Rounds 2 and 3 in the Junior MAX class and look set to be the pace-setters again.  But they will be looking closely over their shoulders at the talented bunch just behind them in the Championship – namely Jakob Robinson, Khalid Al Wahaibi and Saeed Al Ali who have all improved dramatically over the close-season and look set to be strong contenders for the remainder of the series.

Mini MAX covers drivers aged 10 to 12 years and this Championship looks as open as any, with a plethora of potential winners lining up at each event.  Reigning UAE Micro MAX Champion Sem Knopjes and Reigning Oman Micro MAX Champion Shihab Al Habsi have both made a seamless progression into this more powerful category and are already amongst the favourites.  They join multiple winner and current Vice Champion Tehmur Chohan in a really high quality field and should provide an awesome spectacle for the assembled spectators.

The youngest National Championship category – Micro MAX – is also one of the largest and most action-packed.  On early season form, Jamie Day, Ziggy Kermanshahchi and Georgie Zouein are looking very good but, with newer drivers improving all the time, this season will be as much about consistency as raw pace.

The Bambinos will also get their chance to drive in front of their heroes as they compete in a sequence of time trials in between the MAX races!

After practice and qualifying sessions in the morning, racing starts at around 12.00pm with the Finals set to run between 2pm and 6pm.

Entrance is free for spectators.  All are welcome.
